Momentum: What You Should Know!

The partnership gives every tennis fan the opportunity to claim free, official memorabilia from the flagship event

November 08, 2024

For this year's Nitto ATP Finals, we are excited to introduce Momentum. This exclusive partnership gives every tennis fan the opportunity to claim free, official memorabilia from our flagship event – and have their love of the game recognised.

Here's what you need to know:

What is Momentum?
Momentum is an eight-day experience where fans search for Traces: digital memorabilia from the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals (10-17 November).

What is Trace, and why would I want it?
Following the trail are digital souvenirs that tell the story of the Nitto ATP Finals. Each of the 15 singles matches will have its own Trace, with a unique design created from official match data. Each is a souvenir that allows fans to relive the matches between the world's greatest players. Because they have a time limit, they are also a way for fans to prove: “I was there!”.

How many clues will there be?
Momentum will have 15 Match Traces, corresponding to 15 singles matches at the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals. There is also a Tournament Trace, which is claimed when you join the experience. Each account will be limited to one claim per tracking. All leads are free to search.

When can I search for Match Traces?
Each Match Trace will be searched for 24 hours only, on the day of the match. There will be eight application windows in total, corresponding to the eight days of the tournament (10-17 November). Each window opens and closes at midnight in Turin (6pm ET, 11pm UK, 12am CET).

Round-Robin:
Day One (Sunday): Trace matching #1 & #2
Day Two (Monday): Trace matching #3 & #4
Day Three (Tuesday): Trace matching #5 & #6
Day Four (Wednesday): Trace matching #7 & #8
Day Five (Thursday): Trace matching #9 & #10
Day Six (Friday): Trace for matching #11 & #12

Semi-finalists:
Day Seven (Saturday): Trace matching #13 & #14

Finally:
Eighth Day (Sunday): Trace match #15

What happens if I miss one?
There is no penalty for skipping a claim. The joy is in the collecting journey.

How are Traces made?
Each Match Trace is created from official ATP match data, provided by Tennis Data Innovations. We take this data and the pictures are made by hand. At Momentum, our focus metric is momentum – a TDI metric created from multiple data points. This is what we believe best captures the story of tennis – the push and pull, back and forth battle between players.
