New Jersey lawyer warns mysterious drones may come from Iranian homeland: 'They should be shot down'
New Jersey Representative Jeff Van Drew said Wednesday that “highly qualified” and “reliable” sources believe the mysterious drones dotting the skies of the Garden State came from an Iranian “mothership” parked on the US east coast.
“Here's the real deal,” the GOP representative told Fox News' Harris Faulkner.
“I'm on the Transportation Committee, the subcommittee on aviation, and I've gotten to know people. And from the highest sources, the most qualified sources, the most responsible sources. I'll tell you … Iran launched a missile probably about a month ago that contains these drones.
Van Drew did not name the sources responsible for the information, citing confidentiality.

“You know Iran made a deal with China to buy drones, drones and technology to go forward…” he added later.
“…These drones have to be shot down. Whether it was some crazy hobbyist we can't imagine, whether it was Iran – and I think it's possible – they have to be shot down. We're not getting a full deal. And the military is on guard about this.”
Van Drew's comments come as state officials and citizens seek answers to the mysterious development, yet major agencies remain baffled by the incident, including the FBI. The agency is investigating these incidents and has urged the public to report any watercraft sightings.

Footage of drones flying over houses at night, with lights flashing and aimlessly, has spread across the news. Some have been seen at night in some places, and have been seen traveling in groups at times. Some are said to be SUVs.
Drone sightings were also previously reported on Staten Island New York.
Democratic New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy sent to X last Thursday that “there is no known threat to the public at this time.” State officials said they take drone sightings seriously.
