Nicki Minaj Arrested For Assault, Battery By Ex-Tour Manager: Report
Nicki Minaj He was named in a lawsuit filed by a former employee, accusing the rapper of assault and battery.
Brandon Garrettwho claimed to be acting as Minaj's manager on her 2024 tour, sued Minaj, 42, according to Friday, January 3, court documents obtained by TMZ. In the filing, Garrett said that Minaj called him into his dressing room after an April 2024 concert in Detroit, where he allegedly became upset when he heard that he had asked someone else to pick up a prescription.
“[Another employee, Luke Montgomery] he explained that his duties included works such as dining room construction, private jet construction, hotel room construction, locker room catering and bus construction,” the documents read. “Mr. Montgomery said these jobs are in addition to any requests that come up [Minaj] linked by [Garrett]including orders for food, drinks, personal items, baby items and, especially, prescriptions.”
Garrett reportedly explained to Minaj that he was busy with another project during the show and needed another assistant to run the project. When she heard what he was thinking, Minaj allegedly became “visibly angry” and “screamed” at her. He plainly said, “Are you crazy to take my prescription?” and “If my husband [Kenneth Petty] he was here, he was going to pull out your teeth.”
Garrett went on to say that Minaj then “struck him with an open hand” on the right side of his face and on his right wrist. A few hours later, Garrett said another employee in Minaj's band told him she would no longer be joining his band on her tour stop in Chicago.
Minaj denies Garrett's allegations through her lawyer. Us Weekly has reached the comment.
“At this time, no complaint has been filed against Mrs. Petty, therefore, we are not aware of any specific allegations,” Minaj's attorney said. Judd Burstein he told Variety in the statement. “However, if the case is reported by TMZ, it is false and baseless. We are confident that the issue brought by the former assistant will be resolved quickly in Mrs. Petty's favor.”
Minaj is a rapper who entered the music industry with the release of her 2010 album Pink Friday. He has had ups and downs throughout his career, including being arrested in 2024 in Amsterdam.
During her international tour, Minaj said she was stopped by the police after pre-rolls of marijuana were found in her luggage.
“They were trying to stop me from coming to all the shows,” Minaj wrote on Instagram in May 2024. “They took my bags before I saw them. Put it on the plane. Now they are waiting for customs. This is what it looks like when ppl get paid big bucks to try and ruin tourism after all else has failed. Everything they have done is illegal.”
Minaj said the drugs belonged to her bodyguards and was released after a few hours.
“We have just released a 41-year-old American woman who we arrested this afternoon in Schiphol on suspicion of selling soft drugs,” the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee said in a statement to X, possibly referring to Minaj. “After discussions with the Public Prosecution Service, the suspect was fined and can continue his journey.”
