One person was killed and 15 injured when a small plane crashed into a warehouse near the Fullerton Municipal Airport and caught fire, officials said.
Security camera footage captured a fireball exploding as the plane impacted the roof of the facility, sending thick clouds of black smoke and orange-colored flames into the sky.
The crash was reported in the 2300 block of Raymer Avenue at 2:09 p.m. Thursday, prompting the evacuation of more than 100 people from the building and the establishment of a nearby medical facility, according to the Fullerton Police Department. .
The crash happened about half a mile from Fullerton Airport, and the FAA identified the plane as a single-engine Van's RV-10.
At 3:25 p.m., the Fullerton Police Department, Lt. Tim Kandler said the fire was out.
As of 4:30 p.m., nine people were taken to local hospitals and six were treated and released at the scene, according to police spokesperson Kristy Wells.
It is not clear whether the person who died was inside the plane, he said.
Helicopter footage captured by ABC7 showed black smoke billowing from the plane, which crashed into a large warehouse. A number of firemen were there trying to put out the fire.
Details were not yet available on the cause of the accident.
