One person was killed and dozens injured after a truck crashed into an Israeli bus stop

A man was killed and 30 others were injured after a truck crashed into a bus stop near an Israeli military camp north of Tel Aviv, in what authorities are investigating as a terrorist attack.

“The truck hit a lot of people who got off at the bus stop. Eight of the injured were trapped under the truck and others were sleeping walking next to it,” said Israeli emergency doctor Magen David Adom (MDA).

Many of the injured were reportedly pensioners on a day trip to a nearby museum.

The truck driver, whose name is Rami Natur, an Arab in Israel from the city of Qalansawe in central Israel, was shot dead by a citizen at the scene.

Emergency services were called to Glilot Junction around 10:00 local time (08:00 GMT) on Sunday following reports of a lorry exploding.

Yechiel Ben Moshe told the Ynet website: “We were a group of retired people who went to Glilot to visit the museum and listen to a lecture.”

“The bus stopped, people got off, a truck came from behind and I heard a loud noise from the truck.

“It drove towards us and will run over us.”

“In my areas, everyone was injured and bleeding, some were scared. It seems like an accident happened, but then a terrorist shot.”

The Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, who is in charge of the police, called for the family of the suspect to be deported from Israel.

Israel is already fighting its enemies on many borders in Gaza and Lebanon.

But this attack raises a different question: how to keep its people safe from attackers already inside Israel, who use vehicles as weapons.
