Police are investigating possible links to the shootings in Mid-Wilshire and Koreatown
Police are investigating whether two fatal shootings in Los Angeles' Mid-Wilshire and Koreatown neighborhoods on Tuesday were carried out by the same person, authorities said.
The first shooting happened in the 900 block of S. Victoria Avenue in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood around 4:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The 911 caller said they believed someone had been shot and called for help, Los Angeles Fire Department officials said.
When police arrived, they found a man who had been shot multiple times, LAPD Chief David Cuellar said.
The gunman, described as a man in his 50s, pulled out a gun and shot the victim and then drove away, police said.
Just before 10:30 p.m., a second shooting was reported in the 800 block of South Berendo Street in Koreatown.
Police arrived at the scene and found a woman who had been shot, Cuellar said.
News station KTLA reports that the victim was found in the car.
Homicide investigators say the two shootings may be related, but the case remains under investigation.
After the shootings, someone came into the 77th Street police station to report that he had information about one of the dead before the police began an investigation, police said. That person was arrested and interviewed by investigators for the murder, but has not been arrested.
