Payne died at the age of 31 earlier this month after falling from the balcony of the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires. A partial autopsy later showed that he had “pink cocaine” – a recreational drug usually a mixture of methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA – in his system at the time, along with cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack.
A preliminary autopsy revealed that Payne may have been “in a state of unconsciousness or total unconsciousness” when he fell, as his injuries and “the location of his body” suggested he was “unresponsive.” to protect himself.”
Payne suffered “multiple trauma” from the fall, including a “cranioencephalic injury” “severely fatal.” He also had bleeding from his skull, chest, abdomen and limbs.
“His injuries were not life-threatening,” said the emergency manager in Buenos Aires Alberto Crescenti said in a statement, according to The Nation. “Based on what the team saw, it appeared that he suffered a broken spine and severe injuries that led to his immediate death.”
