Response to Law Rant Owner Threatens to Demand Removal of Post
I fully assert my right and the right of all Independent Publishers and journalists to freely express opinions and share facts about Valnet and any of its media properties.

Last week, I told you about a cease and desist letter issued by Valnet, where they wanted my peace. Valnet is the parent company of websites such as Screen Rant, Game Rant, Collider, Movie Web, and CBR. That book (which can be read in its entirety here) are threatening legal action unless I comply with their demands to remove posts referring to their company and its websites.
Below are two examples of statements that Valnet wants removed. They cite many other examples in their book on quitting and quitting altogether.
My lawyer has now written a response, which we have sent to Valnet's legal council. Our response clearly states that we believe Valnet's assertion is “absurd” since the quoted post is protected under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.
We believe that the letter issued by Valnet's legal council is a clear attempt to silence open discussion about the business practices of their company and its associated media organizations such as Screen Rant.
“The only thing that is “very clear” is that Mr. Tyler shared his ideas and information he gathered from the internet. It is also clear that your letter is an attempt to silence Mr. Tyler, and preventing open dialogue about Valnet's business practices in the marketplace of ideas.”
I will not remove my posts, all of which contain opinions and other protected speech. I fully assert my right and the right of all Independent Publishers and journalists to freely express opinions and share facts about Valnet and any of its media properties.
How Valnet will respond to this refusal to comply with their demands remains to be seen.
The full response submitted to Valnet's legal council is included below.
