Face to face Nick Kyrgios in Madrid, Roger Federer “We need an actor for this circus.”
When it comes to clowns, Nick Kyrgios he is in a class by himself, say two prominent Russian players.
Ask them what they think about the return of the explosive Aussie, Elena Vesnina again Nikolai Davydenko released a takedown of the dynamic tag team calling Kyrgios an “excessive clown” in an interview with BetBoomTennis.
Kyrgios, 29, announced his intention to begin his comeback from the exo in December as he prepares to play the 2025 Australian Open.
Former world No. 3 Davydenko, who claimed 21 titles including defeating Rafa Nadal in the 2008 Miami Open final, dismissed Kyrgios as an “over-strengthened”, injury-prone player whose results have failed to match his brilliance.
“He's usually overmatched,” Davydenko told BetBoom Tennis. “When he was playing, he was always injured. In short, let's forget about him.”
Vesnina, the 2017 Indian Wells champion and former Wimbledon semifinalist, ripped Kyrgios as a “funny guy.” although he also praises him as a highly skilled player, who usually does not succeed in the Slams.
“Clown, I agree,” said Vesnina. “But he was incredibly talented and gifted. He had a strong career and a great front. But when it came to winning a major title, all that disappeared.”

Perhaps the disrespect will add fuel to Kyrgios' competitive fire.
The 2022 Wimbledon finalist says she believes she can win a Grand Slam title and knows mastery is the only way to silence her critics.
In fact, Kyrgios has announced two key missions ahead of his comeback: Win a Slam title and silence the doubters.
“I'm coming back because something is wrong with me in the game,” Kyrgios told Australia's News Corp Code Sports. “I was beaten by everyone who was placed in front of me, I reached the Grand Slam final, I won the Grand Slam doubles title, I won many titles and I made money.
“But I think the one thing I'm aiming for now is the Grand Slam. I think that will be the only thing that will turn people off at the end of the day. “
Will Kyrgios have the last laugh? Only time and his performance will tell.
