The trailer opens as the masked evil guards welcome the new characters to the tournament.
They were sent to their first game, and they are familiar with the first season: Green Light Red Light.
Despite Gi-hun's efforts to train the players to the finish line to be safe, things get dangerous.
Just like in the first season, players get to vote to stop the game or continue playing. Although Gi-hun encourages them to focus on “getting out of this place,” the players ignore his pleas.
“One game,” they shout, as prize money fills a giant piggy-bank hanging above them.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk said: “Gi-hun's quest to find out who these people are and why they do what they do is the core story of the second season.”
Also returning is the black-clad Front Man, who oversees the games, and Hwang Jun-ho, a police detective who entered the games last season to look for his missing brother.
Dong-hyuk previously said that he felt “a lot of pressure” on how to make the second season “even better” after the show's success.
Netflix also announced that the final, third season will be released in 2025.
The second series of The Squid Game will be released on Netflix on December 26, 2024.
