Shooting at Target in downtown LA: Security guard, one injured
A gunman shot an armed security guard at a Target in downtown Los Angeles before fleeing the scene Monday night, according to Los Angeles police.
A gunman opened fire on a security guard around 8:55 pm at a store in the 700 block of Figueroa Street inside the Figat7th mall.
The security guard was also beaten by another person, according to the police. The condition of those who were shot was not yet clear. Both were hospitalized.
The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene toward 8th Street, according to police calls. The search was ongoing Monday afternoon.
The city of Los Angeles Target was the scene of a brutal stabbing in 2022, when a homeless man attacked a 9-year-old boy and a 25-year-old woman.
The assailant was shot dead by a third-party security guard at the store. Target increased security in the area after the attack, according to ABC.
