Show celebrates 'diverse and powerful women'
Participants in a multi-ethnic women's photography project say showing their work gives them a sense of pride and helps them make new friends.
Women of the World was run by the Hive community center in Ipswich and led by photographer Gillian Allard.
She worked with seven women, from Ukraine, Afghanistan and Tanzania, to explore creative ways to express their vision for their new hometown in Suffolk.
Mrs Allard said: “It was for them to explore themselves in a fun and playful way, to forget what was going on outside and enjoy their time together.
Themes the group explored included resilience and strength; power and change; culture and identity; mother and family; and hope and joy.
Jackie Ellis, one of Hive's community workers, said: “With this exhibition we aim to honor the resilience, beauty and strength of women from all walks of life, to show their stories in the universal language of photography.”
The project is funded by Suffolk County Council.
The photographs are on display at the Hive in Norwich Road, Ipswich.
