Southern Charm Recap: Craig Freezes His Sperm To Have Children With Paige
Craig Conover real Southern Charm about his family's plans with Paige DeSorbo – and the steps he took to one day become a father – before they called it quits.
“Paige and I decided to freeze my sperm,” Craig, 35, told friends Austen Kroll again Shave Rose during the Thursday, January 2, episode of the Bravo series, which was filmed in the summer of 2024.
During the episode, Craig also told his then-girlfriend, Paige, about his choice to make sure they could have children one day, which surprised her. (Paige, 32, announced her split from Craig days before the episode aired.)
“I was thinking about freezing my sperm,” Craig explained to Paige while sitting in his Charleston backyard. “That's like the craziest thing in the world,” a surprised Paige replied.
Despite the obvious shock on Paige's face, Craig went ahead with the idea and the cameras followed him to the sperm bank where he did his business.
Craig continued to explain his family plan with Paige when he chatted with Austen, 37, and Shep, 44, during Thursday's episode.
“I read about this person who was in a car accident … they can't produce anymore,” Craig told his friends. “I would be remiss if I didn't say that fatherhood is, perhaps, whatever it is called if it has to happen in the future.”
He later confirmed that parenthood is something he ultimately wants but noted that “now it's probably going to be three or four years” because of Paige's timeline.
Asked whose idea it was to stop having a family, Craig said it was Paige. When he decided they would wait, he said, “It made sense to me.”
However, Craig admitted that “without any influence from Paige” he would have had his own timeline: “You date for a while and then you get married, then you have kids.”
The Sewing Down South founder insisted that he and Paige, who had been dating for three years when he filmed the spot, would get married and have kids “one day” but for now they were trying to “make as much money as possible.” “
“I want children one day. Did I ever tell you I want kids right now?” Craig told Austen, saying, “I never said I wanted kids right now.”
However, Austen told the cameras, “Ever since I met Craig, he wanted to get married, he wanted to have kids.” Austen admitted, “I'm not entirely sold that Craig wants what Paige wants.”
Craig, on the other hand, admitted that his timeline was altered due to his relationship with Paige. “The life I saw myself living is not the one I live, which is the stable home I grew up with,” he told the cameras. “Every night at dinner, my mother and father were there with my brother. I just loved that.”
He explained: “But I think if you find the right person and he might be a hot Italian from New York things won't always go as planned.”
Craig and Paige started dating in the summer of 2021 after calling it quits in season 1 A winter house. In early December 2024, Craig shut down the breakup rumors but a few weeks later Paige confirmed that they had split before the holidays.
“Craig and I have decided not to be together anymore,” said the singer Summer House star said during Monday, December 30, his episode again Hannah BernerThe “Giggly Squad” podcast. “I love him, I think he loves me. I think we will always be friends. No one does anything. It wasn't a bad thing. I think we've both been really mature and say what we want and what we don't want, and I think that's very powerful to be able to express how you feel in real time and what you want for your future.”
Before their breakup, the source only told Us Weekly that Craig was “ready for the next steps and had plans to propose.” However, living in different cities – Craig lives in Charleston, and Paige lives in New York City – proved too much for the couple to overcome.
“Paige doesn't want to move to Charleston, and legally it wouldn't work for a long time,” an insider said on Tuesday, December 31. “A lot of their friends aren't shocked at all, but everyone is sad for them.”
Southern Charm airs on Bravo Thursdays at 8 pm ET.
