Star-Studded Action Crime Classic Shows Heist Of A Lifetime
By TeeJay Small | Published
At this point, heist films have become a genre, with many installments in the Mission: Impossible, Fast & Furious, and Oceans franchises focusing on the most chaotic and absurd heists ever planned. However, one film under the crime, it shows a real heart beat, which will raise your blood pressure if you decide to stream it on Paramount+ today. The film in question, 2003's The Italian Job, is a decent heist film in my personal opinion, offering an interesting plot, a star-studded cast, and a lot of heart.
Italian work
For those unfamiliar with the film, Italian work focuses on a group of misfit criminals who successfully pull off a $35 million gold heist in the film's opening scenes. The team is made up of six men with special skills, including a professional safecracker, a computer hacker, a stunt driver, an explosives expert, and a pair of quick-thinking repairmen. After the fraud, the workers get together to split their money, although one of the fixers, Steve, double-crosses the team, shoots their beloved leader, and takes all his baggage with him.
A year later, the surviving band members were joined by Mark Wahlberg's Charlie Croker, and their former leader's daughter, Stella. As Charlie explains to each member as he slowly brings the band back together, he has found Steve in the Hollywood Hills, and plans to get revenge by double-crossing them and getting their score back. I don't want to give up too much Italian workplot here, but enough to say, Steve comes very prepared and offers a strong safety program that pushes employees to their limits.
Italian work directed by F. Gary Gray, who has been very helpful in coming out as On Friday, Law abiding citizen, Straight Outta Comptonand, we are talking about the Fast & Furious Franchise, of 2017 The End of Wrath. As mentioned above, Mark Wahlberg leads the cast of this star-studded film, alongside actors such as Donald Sutherland, Edward Norton, Charlize Theron, Seth Green, Jason Statham, and Yasiin Bey, who is honored under his late moniker Mos Def. .
Box Office and Reception
The film grossed over $176 million worldwide against a production budget of only $60 million, making it a major financial hit. Critics were very positive in their initial reviews of the Italian workalthough some have criticized the project as corny, too busy, and full of cliches.
Today, it's a movie it has a strong critic score of 72 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Personally, I think Italian work is about as good a heist movie as you can get. It offers excellent chemistry between the tracks, which are well placed plot, and some really interesting set pieces.
Stream the movie Heist Today
Whether you would like to go out Italian work for the first time, or it's overdue for a rewatch, the film can be streamed on Paramount+ today. While the movie may not have reached the heights of the other aforementioned franchise outings, I would argue that it has held up better over time than any of the Fast & Furious outings.
