Stars Reading Books 'A Court of Thorns and Flowers'
Celebrities are just like that Usand they read faerie smut, too.
Former football player JJ Watt he almost broke the internet when he revealed that he was studying Sarah J. Maas' hot romance series, Court of Thorns and Flowerswhich has taken over the internet (especially BookTok) and the fiction genre quickly.
First published in 2015, the first book in Maas's epic romance follows Feyre Archeron, who has struggled for years to keep her family alive in the magic-less human lands of Prythian. However, when Feyre unknowingly kills a powerful High Fae messenger named Tamlin, she is transported into a world of magic, faeries and violence where she must fight not only to save her family but her entire world.
Watt isn't the only celebrity drawn to Prythian magic and the High Lords: the singer-songwriter. Maren Morrisactor Megan Fox and playwright Lin-Manuel Mirandaamong others, they all checked off the first book (at least) on their TBR list.
Maas has published five novels in the series so far, with a fifth book due in 2021 Court of Silver Flamesserving as the first installment not told from Feyre's perspective but instead from the POV of her cruel older sister, Nesta. Maas confirmed in 2023 that the sixth ACOTAR A book was in the works, although he did not reveal any other information about the plot. (He is also a best-selling author Throne of Glass again Crescent City series.)
“I'm working on the next one ACOTAR novel,” Maas shared during “Live Talks Los Angeles” in September of last year. “I'm writing it, and that's all I'm going to say.”
Court of Thorns and Flowers television series run on Hulu as well, Us Weekly was confirmed in February, although streaming options and a possible release date were not revealed. Ronald D. Moore revealed in July 2024 that he is no longer a runner after moving to Sony. (Hulu is owned by Disney.)

It's Maher
The Olympian read all of Maas' books, and BookTok quickly decided which Bat Boy would make the best boyfriend for Maher.
“Lately, people have been pairing me with Cassian, so I'm going to do Nesta — and, I'd like to do a makeout with Cassian,” Maher said. Reach out to Hollywood in October 2024. “You know what? I have three sisters, we can all play [the Archeron sisters].”
He even suggested it Dancing with the Stars partner Alan Bersten can play Suriel.
Yung Gravy
The rapper has found that Sarah J. Maas fans love to hear her deep voice read the bitter scenes, and has even read some passages on stage at concerts. In August 2024 TikTok, took over Court of Wings and Ruinhe introduced his video by saying, “My toxic friends, it's time to get out of here. Everyone, it's time to get angry.”
Hannah Dodd
“Help, I'm dating a fictional character,” they said Bridgerton the actress wrote in an Instagram Story of July 2024. “Hannah Fey Katie Dodd is what I will respond to now.”
JJ Watt
Watt shared that he took the first book in this ongoing ACOTAR in April to his wife Kealia Ohai Wattrecommendations. “Kealia swears by it,” she wrote of X at the time. “I don't know what I'm getting myself into.”
Like the first time ACOTAR student, Watt was initially focused on Tamlin's love interest when the series began, and even expressed his desire to play the High Lord of the Spring Court in a realistic way. However, she was encouraged by fans to read on before deciding on any favorite characters, as the book series is full of twists, turns and betrayals.
“He finished the first book and started the second one. It's fun to absorb Amarantha,” Watt wrote on X in April, referring to the first Big Bad book. “(even though he's so magical, how did he know Rhys helped during the second challenge?)” When he finished the first book, Watt shared that he didn't know who to root for: Tamlin and his best friend. and ambassador Lucien, or Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court.
Maren Morris
Morris shared a photo of himself reading Court of Thorns and Flowers via Instagram in May's photo dump. “A week of hot and creative songs,” she captioned the post.
In the video, he suggested Court of Mist and Furythe second novel in the series, and announced a favorite scene: “To those who told me about Chapter 55, thank you.”
Lin-Manuel Miranda
The author of Hamilton checked it all ACOTAR series – currently consisting of five books – on his summer reading list in 2023.
Jordan Fisher
Fisher, for his part, has read more than one series from Maas, including his first-ever fantasy series, Throne of Glasswhich was published in 2012, three years earlier ACOTARrelease. In a video shared on TikTok in April, Fisher shared that she is on her last “hundred” pages Queen of Shadowsthe fourth book in the book Throne of Glass series.
“It's now in every Sarah J. Maas book, the last hundred pages, every Sarah J. Maas book,” the former Disney Channel star said, fuming. He doesn't say—about you or your family or your feelings, how it affects you at work. He doesn't give a—t.”
Claire Holt
I Vampire Diaries alum took to TikTok in March 2024 to write about her experience with the series, sharing a video with the caption, “I'm a fictional character who didn't come back emotionally,” set to the trending soundtrack. Love Is Blind: “If you see and realize you missed it, you will choke.”
While Holt didn't say how far into the series she is, she asked in her caption, “What does Feyre have that I don't?” He would have to ask Rhys, the High Lord of the Night Court, about that.
In the August 2024 TikTok comments section, Holt shared that her “perfect” Rhysand fan would be an Olympic swimmer. Thomas Ceccon.
Megan Fox
Fox made the untrue statement during her March 2024 episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast when asked by the host. Alex Cooper how he likes to relax at the end of the day.
“I often sit by the fire and I like to read,” Fox said. “I read a lot of metaphysical books, but right now I'm reading anything new, like an adult version. It's dusk the book that came out. It's like a sensual faerie book.”
When he confirmed that the name of the series was, in fact, Court of Thorns and FlowersFox noted that he was “loving it” so far, although he hadn't gotten to the “horn part” of the story.
“But I know I'll get there because I know you have the power to bind him with magic,” he remarked, “and already, like, I've come for that.”
Hayden Panettiere
