Stockton police are investigating after a 46-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were shot and killed hours apart

Two people died in separate shootings Saturday night within three miles of each other, leading Stockton detectives to their 43rd and 44th investigations this year.

The first shooting happened around 6:33 p.m. near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Aurora Street, according to the Stockton Police Department.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found a 46-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The second shooting happened around 8:45 pm in the 1700 block of West Fremont Street.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found a 22-year-old woman with a gunshot wound. The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

A spokesman for the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner's office did not immediately respond to a request Sunday to identify both victims.

Although the circumstances that led to the killings are still being investigated, the police department did not release the details of the suspects or reveal the reason for the shooting of the suspects. In the watchman's report, the police did not reveal that the two incidents were related.
