Ted Cruz slams McConnell-aligned super PAC for 'non-existent funding' in competitive race

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, reiterated his criticism of the party connected to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., at a recent rally, saying it did not help him in his competitive Senate race this cycle.

“We are fully supported by the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF),” said the Republican.

Cruz faces Rep. Colin Allred, D-Texas, in a tight Senate race. Despite Allred's formal challenge, Cruz is picked to win the contest.

The SLF has spent most of its resources in states with significant chances of a Republican Senate takeover, such as Pennsylvania, Montana, Ohio, Wisconsin and Michigan.

But Cruz pointed out, “In Texas, we have the most expensive Senate race in the entire country.”

As the senator noted, the campaigns of Cruz and Allred raised more money than any other candidate in the Senate race, with both receiving $165 million, according to the Houston Chronicle.

While the race has attracted more campaign cash than others, including Cruz's last bid for re-election against Beto O'Rourke, it hasn't seen as much outside involvement as other races this cycle.

In fact, Ohio reportedly saw the most spending in its Senate race, to the tune of $400 million, according to USA Today. After Ohio, more than $200 million was spent in Pennsylvania and Montana.

“Chuck Schumer is spending over $100 million with George Soros trying to beat me up. And McConnell in the Senate Leadership Fund is spending zero,” Cruz said, referring to the spending of the Schumer-tied Senate Majority PAC and other dark money outside groups. they have connections. of Soros.

Allred's campaign did not provide comment to Fox News Digital at the time of publication.

“Ted Cruz is one of the best fundraisers in the Republican Party, he ran a great campaign, and he will be well re-elected on Tuesday,” SLF spokesperson Torunn Sinclair told Fox News Digital in a statement.

There has been little focus on the Texas Republican race — or those Sens. Rick Scott, R-Fla., and Deb Fischer, R-Neb., are in the same competitive battle — because most conservative efforts are focused on winning. Democrats are at risk in many of the battleground states.
