The ATP today launched the 'ATP No.1 Club', which for the first time in the official ranking's 50+ year history has brought together all former, current and future ATP World No.1 players. The program, unveiled at the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals, will celebrate the most impressive achievement in professional men's tennis: reaching the top of the PIF ATP Rankings.
The ATP No.1 Club today includes a special group of 29 players across generations – from Nastase and Newcombe to Borg and McEnroe, to Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, to Alcaraz and Sinner – and and No. 1 of the future will be accepted directly by the Club. Through original storytelling, fans will be able to stay connected to these iconic champions, while celebrating one of the rarest achievements in all of sports: the No. 1 PIF ATP Ranking.
In 2025, the Club will introduce a dedicated brand identity for the first time, with each number 1 player receiving exclusive benefits, including invitations to signature events, promotional opportunities and more. As a milestone celebration of Club No. 1 new, all 29 players will be officially honored at an exhibition event at the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals in Turin. To mark the occasion, each player will be given a pre-made gift to commemorate their membership.
Speaking this week at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, No.1 Club members Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev shared their thoughts on what the No.1 ranking means to them.
Carlos Alcaraz he said: “Nothing compares to achieving the World No.1 ranking. That's what you aim for as a tennis player – to be the best, not to be outdone.”
Jannik Sinner he said: “Being No.1 is a childhood dream. It's an honor to sit amongst the greats of our sport as part of the No.1 Club, each of us bringing something unique to the game.”
Daniel Medvedev he said: “There are very few players who have been able to reach number 1. You need to be able to play at the highest level, week in and week out. That's what makes No.1 Club so special – it's an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate all that we've achieved.”
Andrea Gaudenzi, Chairman of the ATPhe said: “Reaching the top of the rankings is a great achievement for our sport. Only 29 players have had what it takes to defend the No.1 spot – not only striking talent, but a level of resilience, self-belief and dedication that is highly recommended beyond the tennis arena. The ATP No.1 Club celebrates the incredible ways these players have shaped the game. And, with fans at the heart of everything we do, it creates an entertainment show that aims to bring them closer than ever to the players they love.”
Today's launch was marked by the release of an impressive video for the ATP No. 1, designed to honor the expertise, style and spirit of the ATP's greatest champions.
