Alexander Zverev was in no mood to play the French legend on Sunday at the Rolex Paris Masters. The 27-year-old suspect had his own story to write.
The number 2 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings produced a flawless performance to defeat home hope Ugo Humbert 6-2, 6-2 in the championship match and took his seventh ATP Masters 1000 title. Zverev was tireless in all departments, but especially after his performance, where he dropped only five points, according to Infosys ATP Stats.
“I knew I had to play like this to win today,” said Zverev, who improved to 23-13 in the tour-level final. “Ugo is an amazing player, but here in Paris, he plays better than he usually does and I knew that. Once the crowd gets involved, it will be difficult. So, I had to get rid of it early, and I did, so I'm happy about that.”

With his second ATP Tour title of 2024 and 66 Tour-lead wins in the year (66-20), Zverev became the second German to win in Paris (Boris Becker).
Humbert, who was seeking to become the first French player to win in Paris since Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in 2008, rose to No. 14 in the PIF ATP Rankings with his run to the final.
