The son of Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, Marius Borg Hoiby, has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
Oslo – Norwegian police said on Tuesday that the 27-year-old son of Norwegian Princess Mette-Marit was arrested on suspicion of rape. Police said Marius Borg Hoiby, who was born out of a relationship before Mette-Marit's marriage to Crown Prince Haakon in 2001, was arrested on Monday evening.
“The police can say about rape that it involves a sexual act without having sex, the victim is said to have been unable to resist this act,” they said.
In a statement sent later, the police said they searched the suspect's home and “came up with dead bodies”.
Borg Hoiby was raised by the royal couple and his siblings Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 20, and Prince Sverre Magnus, 18, but has no official public role.
The rape arrest comes months after he was accused of injuring the woman he was dating after an argument on the night of August 4 at the Oslo apartment, police said. Norwegian media reports say the police found a knife stuck in one of the walls of the woman's bedroom at the time.
He was arrested again in September for violating a restraining order.
Police say he was in a car with the alleged victim of the August incident when he was arrested on Monday.
On Tuesday, police again said the allegations in the August incident now include domestic abuse.
The police said it is not yet clear whether he will be taken into custody.
