The suspect died after driving a truck into a shopping mall in Texas

At least five people were injured, and a suspect was killed, after a man drove his truck through the glass doors of a JC Penney mall in Texas, police said.

The incident took place on Saturday evening, a few days before Christmas, at the Killeen Mall in Killeen, Texas – which is about 70 kilometers north of Austin.

At a press conference Saturday evening, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Bryan Washko said the truck was driven “several hundred feet” to the entrance of the JC Penney store.

Surprised shoppers were injured as the driver “ran people over” and the fifth went to the hospital, said Sergeant Washko. He said the injured ranged from 6 to 75 years old.
