'The Young and the Restless' Star Melissa Ordway 'Out of Contract'

The Young and the Restless star Melissa Ordway He says the daytime soap has canceled his “contract”.

Ordway, 41, has played Abby Newman on the long-running CBS series since 2013. She revealed to her followers via Instagram Stories on Wednesday, November 13, that she cut her hair short after receiving some disappointing news.

“To be honest, it's been an interesting couple of months,” declared Ordway. “The show decided to release me from the contract so I decided to slightly change my appearance for the auditions.”

He added: “It's definitely not what I wanted but I love and respect my YR family and I appreciate it whenever you ask me.”

In a follow-up story, Ordway explained that she is “still playing Abby” but “doesn't have any episodes confirmed and can work on other projects. I am still a part of the YR family and pray that they continue to let Abby be a part of all things Genoa City. Trust me, I hope I'm here all the time!”

He commented, “I think they focused on other characters and stories. But I worked today and there are many exciting things to come! “
