Trump's fitness secrets: Here's how the president-elect stays so healthy
Donald Trump's re-election to the presidency has focused his life and energy.
While past presidents have appeared to age quickly during their tenures, experts say Trump maintains high levels of energy and vitality eight years after he was first elected president.
From his nomination in mid-March 2024 until the election on November 5, Trump presided over at least 120 rallies, town halls and campaign events.

“The fact that he went to 120 events in 7 months – usually many rallies in one day in different states – is proof that Trump has great strength, mentally and physically,” said Dr. Brett Osborn, a Florida surgeon and longevity expert, told Fox News Digital.
As of last November, Trump's overall health was “very good,” according to a letter written by his doctor, which the president-elect posted on his Public Truth account.
In the book, Dr. Bruce Aronwold of New Jersey's Morristown Medical Center wrote that Trump's physical tests were “within the normal range” and that his psychological tests were “abnormal.”
The doctor added that with continued vigilance and preventive maintenance, “she will continue to enjoy a healthy, active life for many years to come.”

The president-elect also spoke about his life during an October 26 appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.
“How are you?” Rogan asked Trump directly.
Trump attributes his good health to “heredity,” he said, noting that his parents were also healthy.
The president-elect also admitted that his love of golf has helped boost his health and energy – especially the “good, clean air” that comes with being outside, and the mental stimulation of focusing on the game.
Lifestyle versus genetics
Osborn said he found it “interesting” to look at Trump's aging process through the lens of genetics and lifestyle.
“It is known that both of these factors contribute to how we age, studies show that about 75% of aging is driven by lifestyle and environment, and 25% is driven by genetics,” Osborn, who has not treated or tested Trump, told Fox News. Digital.

Although Trump has been open about eating fast food and soda, he has said that he does not smoke or drink alcohol.

The doctor emphasized that the president-elect's golf games provide regular outdoor exercise, which is important for heart and muscle health as he ages.
Aside from avoiding alcohol and cigarettes, Osborn says Trump's health and social skills are top-notch.

“He maintains close relationships with family and friends and maintains a full, demanding schedule,” Osborn noted.
“Social interaction and cognitive stimulation are strongly associated with lower risks of dementia, and Trump's rigorous daily routine supports his cognitive health.”
The power of the mind
Dr. Marc Siegel, a professor of medicine at NYU Langone Health and senior medical analyst for Fox News, said the president-elect has excellent mental health.
“I've never tested him, but I've interviewed him twice before and I found him to be very engaged and mentally advanced,” Siegel told Fox News Digital, adding that Trump had taken “several” cognitive tests.
“I talked to his doctor several times during the first quarter, Sean Conley, who said he was healthy mentally and physically,” Siegel said.
“Many people who know him well tell me that.”
The doctor also noted that Trump “has spoken freely many times without a script or teleprompter, improvised.”

Osborn emphasized that, noting that Trump asked the questions without preparation, “which was a strong testimony of his high level of mental functioning and his mental capacity.”
In response to any claims of the president-elect's mental decline, Osborn called them “baseless.”
“Trump's mental performance rivals that of the youngest, and his resilience is reflected in his ability to manage a high-powered system.”
“Trump's cognitive function rivals that of very few people, and his resilience is reflected in his ability to manage a high-powered program – imagine five meetings in five states in one day!”
Osborn added, “These amazing feats are a testament to his mental and physical strength, showing that age can be just a number.”
'Feeling strong'
Jonathan Alpert, a psychiatrist in Manhattan, said Trump's “strong sense of self” could also contribute to his resilience. (She didn't check him.)
“Patients tend to thrive and have it good health is for those who maintain positive thinking and self-confidence, and there is no doubt that Donald Trump embodies these qualities,” Alpert told Fox News Digital.
“We've seen him face a lot of very stressful situations – lawsuits, attempted murders, intense criticism and scrutiny from the public – but he seems to have a strong faith in himself and stick to what he believes.”

Having a strong sense of purpose, social interaction, and sense of community also promotes good health and longevity, Alpert added.
“The patients I treat who feel that they have control over obstacles and difficulties tend to persevere, while those who are negative and feel that they have no control over events do not do so well.”
Doctors agreed that lifestyle choices play a big role in Trump's health.
“Unhealthy diet, high levels of stress, inactivity and lack of social interaction can accelerate aging,” summarizes Osborn.
