UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov removed from Alaska Airlines flight | Mixed Martial Arts Stories
The retired UFC fighter was involved in a boarding incident with Alaska Airlines crew and was later removed from a flight in Las Vegas in the US.
Photos have surfaced online of UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov being involved in a seating dispute with flight attendants at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, which led to the Russian being escorted off the flight to Los Angeles.
The dispute centered on whether Nurmagomedov, who was sitting in the exit row of the plane, was ready, or able, to help other passengers in the event of an emergency.
In the video, an Alaska Airlines flight attendant can be seen asking the 36-year-old if he has the strength to help others from his window seat, should he need to.
The incident was recorded on another passenger's cell phone and a flight attendant can be heard saying, “We're not going to let you sit in the exit line … I'm not going to do this back and forth. I will go and call the manager. You can take a different seat or we can continue to escort you off the plane.”
Nurmagomedov responded to the flight attendant by saying, “It's wrong.” He is also heard saying that he had fully followed the flight attendants during the boarding, then added: “When I checked in, they asked me if I knew English… I said yes.” So why are you doing this?”
A flight attendant, not satisfied with the response from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) legend, was heard on video repeatedly offering Nurmagomedov another seat on the plane, as well as offering him the chance to take another flight. It is reported that Nurmagomedov was escorted off the plane along with his companions.
It is believed that Nurmagomedov was flying to California to support his teammates ahead of the UFC 311 event on January 18 in Los Angeles, Nevada in the US.
Nurmagomedov, who is Muslim, was undefeated (29-0) in his UFC career and is considered by many to be one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time.
Alaska Airlines and Nurmagomedov have not commented on the incident, which is believed to have happened on January 11.
