What Hoda Kotb Said About His Postmodern Career Plans
Hoda Kotb is ready to start a new chapter after saying goodbye to NBC Today.
The TV host announced on September 26 that he is leaving the morning show after nearly 30 years with the network. “I just turned 60, and it was a monumental moment for me when I turned 60 because I started thinking about that decade, like, what does that decade mean? What does it hold? What will happen to me?” he announced to the air. “And I realized it was time to turn the page at 60 and try something new.”
At the time, Kotb also noted that her role as a mother influenced her decision. “I had my kids late, and I thought they deserved my big time, the pie I have,” he explained. “I feel like we have limited time. So, with all that said, this is the hardest thing in the world. ” (Kotb shares her daughters, Haley and Hope, with her ex Joel Schiffman.)
Kotb will continue to run Today with a special “Hoda-bration” episode on January 10, after that Craig Melvin will assume his role as Savannah Guthriethe coanchor. Jenna Bush Hager will continue to host the fourth hour with a rotating panel of guest hosts until a permanent replacement is chosen.
Today such alums Katie Couric again Tamron Hall have continued to host their own TV shows or moved on to other series, such as Deborah Norville he did with Inside Edition. While Kotb hasn't announced any official upcoming projects, he has teased that the next phase of his career may take place on the small screen and off.

October 25 episode of Today With Hoda & JennaKotb revealed that he plans to dive into the world of health after saying goodbye Today.
“I don't know if you've ever had a longing, a calling, a desire, and you can't stop, or you can try, because working at NBC is safe. … But sometimes, you know that you want to try something else in your life,” he explained. “Also, a health facility was opened to me because I saw what was happening to me. I tried different things and saw that my body was getting better. I was starting to get sick. I was feeling better. I was a better parent, a better friend, a better sister, a better daughter. And I thought, all these little things that I was doing every day were helping to change me from the inside.”
Kotb continued: “What I want to do is I want to live well. I want to work in that space. I want to start things. I've got some interesting stuff coming up, hopefully they'll be built soon.”
How Will Hoda Kotb Spend Her Free Time After 'Today'?
In addition to pursuing a good life, Kotb has been vocal about wanting more time with his children after he leaves. Today. Since moving outside of New York City earlier this year, Kotb has spoken about dealing with urban adventures like taking her kids to school, trick-or-treating and hosting holidays in her new home.
“I'm very happy because hanging the socks in a place that you know will be a place where they will be hanging for years – we just, for the first time, decided where the tree will go, and we know. from today on, that's where it's going to go — all these good things,” he said on the December 24 episode. Hoda & Jenna before celebrating Christmas with his girls, his mother, Samehasister, Halaand Schiffman. “We decorated our house, like all those kinds of nice things.”
