Actor and longtime Los Angeles resident Zachary Levi has voiced strong criticism as California battles devastating wildfires, urging state leaders to take responsibility and describing the situation as “personal” to him.
“This is the most devastating fire in the history of Los Angeles,” a visibly shaken Levi told Jesse Watters Primetime Wednesday night. “My family is from Ventura, California. I grew up there most of my life, then lived in LA for 15 years.”
He also compared the devastating wildfires in the news to “watching a post-apocalyptic war movie.”
Levi revealed why he believes California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and state leadership should be held accountable.
“This is incredibly mismanagement, incredibly bad leadership. I would go so far as to say it's criminally negligent because, I mean, Gavin Newsom has been governor for five years or lieutenant governor before that for eight, nine years, some of the worst fires we've had in California under that watch, you know Well, the biggest problem we face in California is the mudslides that follow,” explained Levi.

“And they don't do anything, but worse than nothing, when the fire department's budget is cut, when specifically, they deliberately don't do the work that can be done to avoid these problems or to be able to help them effectively when they happen.”
“There's something almost criminally intentional about this. Like, what are they doing? I don't know,” Levi asked.
“I don't know why they do or don't do the things they do. But they must be held accountable. This is not good leadership,” he added.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has faced a lot of criticism for going to Ghana while her city is dealing with devastating fires and her budget cuts for the LA Fire Department last year.

What does that say about the character of this man who was doing nothing to help the people of California, I don't believe it is,” Levi said. . “And so I think there should be some kind of, you know, accountability held in the leadership of not only California, but in our nation, you know?”

Levi says he considers fire insurance to be the “most criminal” part of the situation.
“I don't know if you know this, but like 70% or more of the insured in Southern California who had fire insurance on their homes months ago, that insurance was taken,” Levi said. “The insurance company said no, we will no longer provide fire insurance, what should they do with flood insurance and fire insurance?
